AddressNo. 28, Shanjia Street, Shulin District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 238

Built in 1903, Shanjia is considered an antique railway train station and was designated as a historical landmark by the city. Its exterior includes washed terrazzo pillars, wooden window lattices, wooden eaves, and black roof tiles, creating a simple but elegant classical style. After more than a century, the old station was closed in 2011 and then renovated, while trains were shifted to a new station. When you visit make sure to also see the remnants of the abandoned coal mine behind the station and the “husband-wife” trees, a pair of banyan trees that appear to be holding hands like a couple offering one another support.
