Scenic Information

Shiding East Street used to be called “Neiyuezai”, and it developed later than West Street (“Zhongpu” back then). In Shiding’s early development in the Qing Dynasty, it was a distribution center for tea trading. Because the land behind West Street was limited, more people began to live in East Street, which led to the development of the area, and a small market formed there during the Daoguang Period (1820–50).

It used to be lively here, with people shopping for their daily necessities. Everyone came to Shiding to stock up, so it was also called "Small Dihua Street" (after the famous shopping street in Taipei).
