Taoyuan Metro serves as an extension to the gateway of Taiwan –Taoyuan International Airport, offering travelers safe, convenient, comfortable and high quality metro service to and from the airport. The metro system an important symbol of a developed nation, and connects diverse landscapes and sceneries of various towns and cities along the journey. These are complemented by the architectural styles of different stations to create a unique memory and spatial experience for travelers.
On September 1, 2009, the Taoyuan City Government was appointed by the MOTC as the local authority to implement the “Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Construction” project. In order to facilitate the promotion of the MRT and forge collaborations between various municipalities along the line, the Taoyuan City Government convened a preparatory meeting with Taipei City Government and New Taipei City Government, where a consensus was reached to co-fund the project by the three municipalities. Consequently, “Taoyuan Metro Corporation” was established on July 6, 2010 as per the MOEA’s approval, taking over the responsibility of managing and maintaining the operation of Taoyuan Metro.
“Taoyuan Metro” trains traveling towards Taipei Main Station will pass through the Linkou District, Taishan District, Xinzhuang District and Sanchong District in New Taipei City. Alternatively, travelers can transfer to the “Taipei Metro” at Taipei Main Station to the Bannan Line, Tamsui-Xinyi Line, Songshan-Xindian Line and Zhonghe-Xinlu Line to reach more popular tourist destinations in New Taipei City.
